HackTrick Contest


Agreement to Official Rules: By entering the HackTrick Contest (the “Contest”) Entrant hereby fully and unconditionally agrees to these official rules (the “Official Rules”) and Sponsor’s (“Administrator”) decisions,  which are final and binding in all matters related to the Contest. Winning a prize is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements set forth herein. Any violation of these Official Rules will result in disqualification. 


The Contest starts in Cairo, Egypt on March 10, 2023, and ends on March 18, 2023 (the “Entry Period”).  The Contest is being administered in Egypt and is open to individuals from Egypt only as explained in  Section 2 (Eligibility).  


All participants must (a) be at least 16 years of age or older at the time of entry; (b) possess a valid form of identification; and (c) be a legal resident of Egypt. All applicable federal, national, state, provincial and local laws and regulations apply. VOID IN ALL JURISDICTIONS WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW OR  REGULATION, AND JURISDICTIONS WITH LAWS THAT WOULD REQUIRE REGISTRATION, TRUST  ACCOUNT, AND/OR POSTING OF A BOND, OR ANY OTHER REQUIREMENTS THAT HAVE NOT  BEEN SATISFIED, OR RESTRICTED OR TAXED BY LAW (“Excluded Territory”). Residents of an  Excluded Territory are not eligible. Employees and representatives of Dell Inc., its subsidiaries, and any of their parent and affiliate companies as well as the immediate family (spouse, parents, siblings and children)  and household members of each such employee are not eligible. Government employees including all federal, state, county, city or municipal government employees, state-funded universities and colleges, all types of public officials including elected officials, private individual or firms where the Government has outsourced Government functions, and K-12 employees are not eligible.  

All participants under the age of 21 years of age must procure the written approval of their legal guardian to participate in the Contest. 

    1. HOW TO ENTER 

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Internet access required at your cost. An individual meeting the Eligibility  Criteria may enter the Contest by registering only as part of a team during the period from 10 January till 9  February 2023 on the following registration link. No other method of entry will be accepted. 

Submission Guidelines:  

    • A registering team must fill the form provided and copies of their national IDs;
    • The submitted form must include the details of all the members of the team; 
    • Maximum of 6 participants per team; 
    • Each team will receive a Codility tests to assess the team’s programming and machine learning skills. 
    • Regarding Codility tests: 
      • Each team may collaborate together on solving the assignment. 
      • Must not share solutions with other teams.
      • Plagiarism will not be tolerated, and will result in disqualification. 
    • The submitted form must not include duplicate entries for any of the team members’  information; 

Upon submission of your entry form, you will earn one (1) entry (each, an Entryand collectively,  Entries) into the Contest for a chance to win a prize described in Section 6 below (the Prizeor  Prizes), provided that you meet the Eligibility Criteria set forth in Section 2. By submitting an Entry, you confirm that you have read, understand and agree to abide by these Official Contest Rules. Your Entry must adhere to the Eligibility Criteria listed above or your Entry will be void and ineligible for entry into the  Contest. Any entry received from a single person in excess of one (1) may be disqualified in  Sponsor/Administrator’s sole discretion. Entry must be submitted by the entrant him or herself. Use of automated devices is prohibited; automated Entries (including but not limited to Entries submitted using any robot, script, macro or other automated service) are not permitted and may result in disqualification. 

Incomplete, corrupted, garbled, misdirected or otherwise illegible Entries, or Entries without contact information, or agreement to these Official Contest Rules, are void and will not be accepted.  Sponsor/Administrator reserves the right to disqualify false Entries or Entries suspected of being false. All  Entries submitted become the sole property of Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned. All  Entries must be received by the deadlines specified above. 

Limit: One (1) entry for each Entry Period. 

YOUR REPRESENTATIONS: By submitting an Entry, You affirmatively represent that You have read and agree to these Official Rules. In addition, by submitting an Entry, You represent that (a) the Entry is original,  (b) You are the sole creator of the Entry, (c) the Entry does not violate any local, state, national or foreign laws, and (d) You agree that You are in compliance with all of Your employers’ rules, policies, and procedures that relate to accepting prizes, if applicable. 


After the conclusion of the Contest Period, a panel of qualified judges determined by Sponsor in its sole  discretion will select the potential winners from among all eligible Submissions received, based on an  application of the following criteria (“Judging Criteria”): 

    • Presentation performance; and 
    • Technical performance; 

In the event of a tie, the Entrant whose solution completed the challenge in less time, will be deemed the potential winner. Sponsor reserves the right to select fewer than the stated number of winners, if, in its sole discretion, it does not receive a sufficient number of eligible and qualified Submissions. 

The potential winners will be notified in the contest closing event. Prizes will be fulfilled in the following 4-6  weeks after conclusion of contest.  


Entrants selected as potential winners (“Potential Winners”) are subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules. The Administrator will attempt to notify each Potential Winner via email within approximately 2 weeks after Entry Period ends. 

In order to be declared a winner, each Potential Winner may be required:  

(i) complete and return to Administrator (or its authorized agent), by the deadline specified in the  winner notification, a written affidavit of eligibility (or declaration and release) and publicity release form (collectively, the “Release”), releasing the Administrator from any liability in connection with  this Contest or the acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any Prize to the fullest extent  permitted by the laws of each Potential Winner’s jurisdiction of residence; 

(ii) If entrant is selected as a Potential Winner of a Prize valued at or above $600 USD (or other  amount as might be provided by the law of the jurisdiction in which the Potential Winner resides),  complete all tax documentation as may be required by the law of the jurisdiction in which the  Potential Winner resides (“Tax Documentation”), if any;  

If a potential winner cannot be contacted, fails to sign and return the Release, any required Tax  Documentation within the required time period (if applicable), does not comply with these Official Rules, or prize is returned as undeliverable, the potential winner forfeits the prize. If a potential winner is disqualified for any reason as set forth in these rules, the prize may be awarded to a runner-up determined in Sponsor’s sole discretion. Only three (3) alternate winners may be determined, after which the applicable prize will remain un-awarded. Acceptance of any prize shall constitute and signify each winner’s agreement and consent that Sponsor and its designees may use the winner’s name, city, state, location, likeness,  Submission and/or prize information in connection with the Contest for promotional, advertising or other purposes, worldwide, in any and all media now known or hereafter devised, including the Internet, without limitation and without further payment, notification, permission or other consideration, except where prohibited by law. Each winner will indemnify Sponsor, Released Parties (as defined in Section 7, below)  and any licensee of Sponsor against all claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable counsel fees and legal expenses) arising out of any breach of these terms.  

    1. PRIZES 

The prizes available to be won by all winners in the two Contest tracks will represent a total cash of $12,000  USD to be distributed on all the top winners in the two tracks (Students and Working Professionals).  

Prizes are non-transferable and no substitution will be made except as provided herein at the Sponsor’s sole discretion. Prizes awarded will not in any way influence any decision in doing business with Dell. Prize was not given in connection with or related to any sale or commercial transaction or promise related thereto.  Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize for one of equal or greater value. Winners are responsible for all taxes and fees associated with prize receipt and/or use. Limit: One (1) prize per team to be given to team leader identified in the registration. Total of all prizes: $12,000 USD. The members of the winning team shall indemnify and hold the Sponsor harmless from any claims of non-payment of the prize of $12,000  USD. Each team is responsible for the distribution of the prize without any liability on the Sponsor. 


TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, BY PARTICIPATING IN THIS  CONTEST, ENTRANTS AGREE THAT ADMINISTRATOR AND SPONSOR, and their respective subsidiaries, affiliates, suppliers, distributors, advertising/promotion agencies, and prize suppliers, and each of their respective parent companies and each such company’s officers,  directors, employees and agents (collectively, the “Released Parties”) HAVE NO LIABILITY  WHATSOEVER FOR, AND ENTRANTS SHALL HOLD THE RELEASED PARTIES HARMLESS  AGAINST, ANY LIABILITY FOR ANY INJURIES, CLAIMS, LOSSES, DAMAGES, COSTS OR EXPENSES  OF ANY KIND (INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL,  CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES) TO PERSONS OR PROPERTY RESULTING FROM (A)  ENTRY OR PARTICIPATION IN THIS CONTEST, INCLUDING ACCESS TO AND USE OF THE  CONTEST WEBSITES, (B) ANY CLAIMS BASED ON PERSONALITY OR PRIVACY RIGHTS,  DEFAMATION OR PRIZE DELIVERY, OR (C) THE ACCEPTANCE, POSSESSION, USE OR MISUSE OF  ANY PRIZE. RELEASED PARTIES ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY UNDELIVERED E-MAILS,  INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION E-MAILS THAT ARE NOT RECEIVED BECAUSE OF A WINNER’S  PRIVACY OR SPAM FILTER SETTINGS WHICH MAY DIVERT ANY NOTIFICATION OR OTHER E-MAIL, INCLUDING ANY WINNER NOTIFICATION E-MAIL, TO A SPAM OR JUNK FOLDER. You further understand and agree that all rights under Section 1542 of the Civil Code of California (“Section 1542”) and any similar law of any state or territory of the United States that may be applicable with respect to the foregoing release are hereby expressly and forever waived. You acknowledge that Section 1542 provides  that: “A GENERAL RELEASE DOES NOT EXTEND TO CLAIMS WHICH THE CREDITOR DOES NOT  KNOW OR SUSPECT TO EXIST IN HIS OR HER FAVOR AT THE TIME OF EXECUTING THE RELEASE,  WHICH, IF KNOWN BY HIM OR HER MUST HAVE MATERIALLY AFFECTED HIS OR HER  SETTLEMENT WITH THE DEBTOR.” The releases hereunder are intended to apply to all claims not known or suspected to exist with the intent of waiving the effect of laws requiring the intent to release future unknown claims. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages; therefore, such exclusions may not apply to you, please see Section 10 below. 

Without limiting the foregoing, but subject to Section 10 below, the Released Parties shall not be  responsible for: (a) any incomplete or inaccurate information that is caused by Contest website users, or  by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest, or by any technical or  human error which may occur in the processing of submissions in the Contest; (b) lost, interrupted, or  unavailable network, server, service provider, on-line systems, telephone networks or telephone lines, or  any other connections; (c) the theft, destruction, loss or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, Entries; (d)  any problems with, or malfunctions or failures of, telephone networks or lines, computers or computer online systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, viruses or bugs; (e) garbled transmissions or miscommunications; (f) failure of any e-mail to be received by or from the Administrator for any reason, including but not limited to traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website or combination thereof or technical incompatibility; (g) damage to a user’s computer equipment (software or hardware)  occasioned by participation or downloading of materials related to this Contest; (h) printing, distribution,  programming or production errors, and any other errors or malfunctions of any kind, whether human,  mechanical, electronic or otherwise; or (i) technical, pictorial, typographical or editorial errors or omissions contained herein.



Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, suspend and/or modify the Contest, or any part of it, if any fraud,  technical failures, human error or any other factor impairs the integrity or proper functioning of the Contest,  as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. If terminated, Sponsor may, in its sole discretion, determine the winners from among all non-suspect, eligible Entries received up to time of such action. Sponsor, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the Entry process or the operation of the Contest or to be acting in violation of the Official Rules of this or any other promotion or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner and void all associated Entries. Any attempt by any person to deliberately undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages and other remedies  (including attorneys’ fees) from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. Sponsor’s failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.  

    1. DISPUTES 

THE TERMS OF SERVICE THAT ARE INCORPORATED INTO THESE OFFICIAL RULES CONTAIN A  BINDING ARBITRATION AGREEMENT AND CLASS ACTION AND JURY TRIAL WAIVER CLAUSES,  WHICH ARE APPLICABLE TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE PROGRAM THAT RESIDE OUTSIDE OF THE  EUROPEAN ECONOMIC AREA (“EEA”), SWITZERLAND, AND NEW ZEALAND. SOME  JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE ABOVE RESTRICTIONS IN THE EVENT OF DISPUTE OR  LIMITATIONS OR EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES,  SO THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU – PLEASE SEE SECTION 10 BELOW. Subject to Section  10, all issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these  Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of you and the Administrator in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the State of Texas without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules (whether of the State of Texas or any other jurisdiction), which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than the State of Texas.



Location Specific Notices: If any provision of these rules is invalid under the law, rules or regulations of a particular location, it will only apply to the extent permitted and you shall not be deprived of the protection afforded to you under your own laws, rules, or regulations. In addition to the tax liability disclosures in these rules, winners are subject to abide by the income reporting and, if applicable, the payment of any taxes and withholdings due per the laws, rules and regulations of the winners’ location of residence and the existence and level of such taxes and withholdings may change over time. 


Sponsor and its authorized agents will collect, use, disclose and otherwise process the personal information you provide when you enter the Contest as set forth in the Sponsor’s Online Privacy Notice:  www.dell.com/privacy, and in particular for the purposes of administering the Contest, Prize fulfillment,  recordkeeping and for compliance with our legal obligations in all jurisdictions in which the Contest is available. By entering the Contest, you understand and acknowledge that your personal information will be used for these purposes and as set forth in our Online Privacy Notice. You also have certain rights  regarding our processing of your personal data under certain circumstances (which may include the rights of access, portability, correction, deletion, objection and restriction); for information about your rights and  how to exercise them please consult our Online Privacy Notice or contact us at: www.dell.com/privacy 

Transfers to the United States. The Contest websites and the personal information you submit (as detailed in these Official Rules) will be hosted and processed, for the purposes described above, on servers in the United States, where the Administrator is located, and the personal information you provide may therefore also be subject to the laws of the United States, which may not provide the same type or level of data protection as the laws in your location. We take steps to ensure that personal data transferred outside your home jurisdiction is subject to adequate safeguards as set forth in our Online Privacy Notice (to request information about these safeguards or privacy practices, contact us as set forth in the Online Privacy Notice:  www.dell.com/privacy. By entering into the Contest you acknowledge and agree to your information being treated as per the above mentioned Online Privacy Notice and to it being transferred to the United States. 

Users outside the European Economic Area and Switzerland: By entering the Contest, you acknowledge that you understand and agree to our Online Privacy Notice. By accepting a Prize, each winner agrees to Sponsor’s use of his/her name, city/state/province of residence, picture, biographical information, statements, voice and likeness in any advertising and publicity Sponsor may conduct relating to the Contest in any media or format, whether now known or hereafter developed, including but not limited to the World Wide Web, at any time or times in perpetuity, without further compensation or notice, except where prohibited by law. Aggregate and anonymized Contest winner information may be used by the  Sponsor to communicate about the Contest to its retailers and distributors.  

By participating in this Contest, You consent for Sponsor and Administrator to obtain, use, and transfer  Your name, address, email and other details for prize fulfillment purposes and marketing, advertising and  other commercial purposes as set forth in Sponsor’s Privacy Statement available at www.dell.com/privacy
